This weekend the wrestling team traveled to Altruas Ca, for the Modoc North East Classic. As a team we finished 7th place overall out of 17 teams and we also finished 2nd place in the small school division. Individually Jay Lysne 152 & Brock Sutfin 215 were tournament Champions. Tony Frank took 2nd place at 189, Neil Sutfin placed 4th @ 171, Ben Mainini placed 5th @ 160 and Dylan Amerson placed 6th at 285. Also Jay Lysne earned outstanding wrestler for the middle weight division. As well as Brock Sutfin and Ben Mainini had6 pins this weekend and Jay Lysne had 5 pins.

Last week we wrestled in two different tournaments, @ Glide High School at the Willie Wilkinson Invitational and at North Lake High School at the North Lake Invite.
At North Lake we took some of our younger and less experienced wrestler's and had a good showing for the first tournament of the year. Dalton Alexander, Saul Ballaine, Nathan Harlan, Ricky Lopez-Blair, Marco Guitron and Daniel Martinez all not only got their first win of the year but their first high school career win all were by pin. Also Daniel Martinez lead the Honkers with two wins both by fall. All in all the young guys had a good start to the year and competed well in North Lake.
At Glide we took our more experienced wrestlers. Placing highest for the Honkers this weekend was Jay Lysne @152 lb and Tony Frank @189 lb. Both finished 2nd in their respective weight brackets. Also Jay lysne lead the honkers this weekend with 3 pins as well as Tony Frank, Seth Ballaine, Kelton Vanhoesen and Ben Mainini all had wins by fall. With a split lineup and not all kids wrestling at Glide due to injuries or not certified yet we ended up placing 8th at the tournament. All in all I thought we wrestled well at both tournaments did some goods things but more so gave ourselves a base line to start from for the rest of the season.
